We were looking for a good quality mattress, but had to stay in the mid-range of prices. One thing we wanted was an easy-clean surface. This mattress has a "plasticy" surface which wipes clean. Perfect for accidents, though we haven't had any yet. We wanted one that fit very snug in our crib (We have the Graco Charleston convertible crib in white.) It fits PERFECT. Had to really push it in, and it fits snug on all sides. We didn't want one with a brightly colored print on it that might show through sheets. This mattress does have a pretty print on it, but it is a neutral white and tan print that doesn't show through our pink sheets. Another quality we were looking for was reinforced edges that won't smash down when our LO stands or pulls up on her crib sides. We compared all the ones in the store. The cheaper mattresses easily pinched down with little effort, and even some of the more expensive ones did as well. But there were a few that stood up better to our testing. This is one of the best as far as this is concerned. We wanted a firm mattress as suggested by doctors, but not so firm that it would be uncomfortable, because our LO is used to co-sleeping in our pillow top bed. This is a happy medium firmness. She seems very comfortable on it. Overall we are very happy with this purchase.
